Measures for enabling power control in an inter-band multi-carrier capable device such as inter-band Carrier Aggregation (CA) capable device. Such measures comprise calculating at least one output power restriction value for a cumulative output power for a combination of at least two uplink (UL) carriers of a terminal device, the two uplink carriers operating on different bands, and signaling the calculated at least one output power restriction value to the terminal device. Power control for the at least two uplink carriers can be performed using the acquired at least one output power restriction value. The power control at the terminal device side is performed such that the cumulative output power for the combination of the uplink carriers is equal to or less than the output power restriction value. Power control may be employed in inter-band carrier aggregation if an intermodulation distortion (IMD) component (produced when multiple carriers operating on different frequency bands are combined) falls within a frequency band being used by a device, such as for downlink transmission, and would otherwise cause excessive desensitisation. |
