 A method for providing healthy diet advice has an image reading step reading images containing calorie-related information (e.g. nutritional label on a food package), a calorie information acquiring step recognizing the calorie-related information in the images and calculating a total caloric value, and an advice providing step comparing the total caloric value with a preset basic caloric value to provide an advice to have or not to have an edible. The method can achieve dietary control by taking pictures of nutrition facts (21) or ingredients (22) on an outer food packing, recognizing and calculating the total caloric value, and comparing the total caloric value with the basic caloric value. The image may be a quick response (QR) code. In another embodiment a device for providing healthy diet advice comprises an optical input unit (camera), a display, a database built into the processing unit of the device. |
