PURPOSE: A communications method in a multi-bandwidth supporting wireless local area network (LAN) system and an apparatus thereof are provided to transmit information of a receiving unit for determining a modulation mode, a code rate and a bandwidth and to determine a transmission rate in a transmitting unit using the information. CONSTITUTION: A receiving unit (1210) receives link margin information for each of multiple bandwidths from a receiving device of a multi-bandwidth supporting wireless LAN system. A control unit (1220) obtains a margin value of a signal-to-noise ratio based on the link margin information. The control unit determines a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) and a bandwidth based on the margin value of the signal-to-noise ratio. A transmitting unit (1230) transmits data to the receiving unit using determined MCS and bandwidth.
