The hair styling apparatus comprises housing (1) and two arms. The arms are connected with each other by a joint. One of the arms is provided with a heating element (5a) having a heating surface (51a) for heating and shaping of hairs in a treatment area. A projection portion (6a) is projected between the housing and arms in the treatment area and is aligned along a tension direction of the to-be-treated hairs such that the hairs are pulled over the heating surface.
