PURPOSE: An application user authentication device and a method thereof are provided to provide a method in which the authentication is available, in various cases of the authentication being unavailable when performing the user authentication for the application. CONSTITUTION: An application (120) is installed at a user terminal. A communications unit (160) performs the communication for the user authentication of the application. A control unit (110) selects the user authentication method for the application according to the predetermined condition among a plurality of user authentication method. The control unit controls the communication unit to perform the user authentication by the selected user authentication method. The plurality of user authentication method includes the self-short message service (SMS) mode and the non-self-SMS mode.
