PURPOSE: An impulse noise removing apparatus and a method thereof are provided to correct a noise pixel using a value of a normal pixel adjacent to the noise pixel. CONSTITUTION: A first noise removing unit (110) generates a noise removed image by applying a standard median filter to an original image. A noise candidate detecting unit (130) detects a noise candidate region by applying morphological dilation to a noise candidate pixel. If a brightness value of a pixel is the same as one of maximum and minimum values, a noise detecting unit (150) selects the pixel as a noise pixel. A second noise removing unit (170) corrects the brightness value of the noise pixel to be a second median value or an average value.
