PURPOSE: An apparatus for searching playing section of multimedia contents in an image display device and a method thereof are provided to search the playing section of the multimedia contents precisely. CONSTITUTION: A display part (110) displays moving picture contents which are reproduced. When a search event is generated during moving picture contents searching, a control part (100) controls the display part to display at least two image search bars. The display part includes a touch screen. When touch for the replaying zone of the moving picture contents is sensed during replaying of the moving picture contents, the control part controls the display part to display at least two image search bars.
