PURPOSE: A hybrid type car audio device and a method for operating the same are provided to display information about the song of digital radio on a stereo system, thereby improving added value. CONSTITUTION: A hybrid type car audio device includes a modem part (120), a radio frequency (RF) receiving part (110), and a control part (160). The modem part receives a digital radio signal according to a frequency predetermined by a user. The RF receiving part receives an analog radio signal according to a frequency predetermined by the user. For a radio broadcast service due to the predetermined frequencies, the control part outputs a control signal for changing the receiving path of a radio signal from analog to digital, outputs a voice signal through a voice output part (170) based on the digital radio signal received from a connected digital broadcast server, and outputs a data signal through a display part (160) when the field strength of the analog radio signal is below a predetermined level while outputting the analog radio signal through the voice output part.
