The present invention relates to a method for producing light guide bodies and to the use thereof in lighting units, for example, for liquid crystal display screens or monitors. The present invention in particular relates to a method for producing light guide bodies that have a thickness of no more than 1 mm and contain at least 80 weight percent polymethyl methacrylate and no light-scattering components. In the method, the polymer material is produced as a thin plate or film by a mixing apparatus (1), a flat film die (2) and a die lip (3) that is adapted to the outer circumference of the smoothing rollers. The distance of the smoothing rollers and the die lip can be optically controlled. |
