The present invention relates to the use of an antibody or a fragment thereof for treating or preventing a bone disease. The invention also relates to osteoprotegerin (OPGbp) binding proteins, protein-encoding nucleic acids, expression vectors and protein-producing cells and binding assays. The present invention also relates to compositions and methods for treating bone diseases such as osteoporosis, bone loss due to arthritis, Paget's disease and hypercalcemia. The invention also relates to receptors of osteoprotegerin binding proteins and methods and compositions for treating bone diseases by using receptors.
