PURPOSE: An active hydraulic braking method is provided to allow or disallow regenerative braking by determining whether to operate a driver convenience function or emergency braking function when active braking is required. CONSTITUTION: An active hydraulic braking method comprises the following steps: determining if active braking is required according to a braking command (310); determining if braking deceleration exceeds a predetermined level when the active braking is required (320); disallowing regenerative braking when the braking deceleration exceeds the predetermined level (330); allowing regenerative braking when the braking deceleration is at the predetermined level or lower (340); providing braking force to the driving wheels of a vehicle only using hydraulic braking when the regenerative braking is disallowed; and providing braking force to the driving wheels using hydraulic and regenerative braking when the regenerative braking is allowed.
