METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SHORTENING AUTHENTICATION PROCESS DURING A HANDOVER OF A USER TERMINAL IN RADIO NETWORK

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for reducing authentication processes in handover of a subscriber terminal on a wireless network are provided to use information obtained when initial authentication to perform a re-authentication process between a subscriber terminal and a wireless network. CONSTITUTION: A receiver (602) receives the identifier of a subscriber terminal from the subscriber terminal. A determining unit (604) confirms whether the subscriber terminal corresponding to the identifier performs an active handover process. The active handover is a handover while transmitting data or performing a call. If the subscriber terminal is in handover, the determining unit reduces the authentication processes of the subscriber terminal through first authentication keys obtained when the subscriber terminal performs initial authentication.
