Disclosed herein are compounds of the formula I for use in the treatment of atherosclerosis, diabletes, Alzheimer's disease, dyslipidemia and related diseases. Preferred embodiments include: 2-(1-(3-chloro-3'-fluoro-4'-(hydroxymethyl)-5'-(methylsulfonyl)biphenyl-4-yl)-2-(2-(2,6-dichlorophenyl)propan-2-yl)1H-imidazol-4-yl)propan-2-ol; 2-(2-(2-(2-chloro-3-fluorophenyl)propan-2-yl)-1-(3'-fluoro-4'-(hydroxymethyl)-5'-methylsulfonyl)biphenyl-4-yl)-1H-imidazol-4-yl)propan-2-ol; and 2-(2-(2-(2,6-dichlorophenyl)propan-2-yl)-1-(3'-fluoro-4'-hydroxymethyl)-5'-(methylsulfonyl)biphenyl-4-yl)-1H-imdazol-4-yl)propan-2-ol.
