PURPOSE: A hands-free system for vehicles and a controlling method thereof are provided to control a signal level in an audio signal inputted to a microphone according to changes of a position of a driver's seat without installing a separate microphone moving unit in case the position of the driver's seat is changed. CONSTITUTION: An electronic control unit (ECU) (120) receives a signal. The ECU outputs position information of a driver's seat corresponding to the signal. A head unit (130) receives the position information of the driver's seat. The head unit controls a signal level in an audio signal inputted through a microphone based on the position information of the driver's seat. The head unit converts the audio signal to an audio signal with a predetermined signal level. The head unit transmits the converted audio signal to a mobile communication terminal in which is connected.
