METHOD FOR PREPARING 3,6-ANHYDRO-L-GALACTOSE AND USE OF THE 3,6-ANHYDRO-L-GALACTOSE

PURPOSE: A method for preparing 3,6-anhydro-L-galactose and a use of 3,6-anhydro-L-galactose are provided to obtain 3,6-anhydro-L-galactose with high yield through chemical and enzymatic methods and to have physiological activity such as whitening, moisturizing, antioxidative, and anti-inflammatory effects, thereby being used in industries. CONSTITUTION: A cosmetic composition for whitening or moisturizing skin contains 3,6-anhydro-L-galactose of chemical formula 1. 3,6-anhydro-L-galactose is prepared by reacting agarose and 0.5-60 % (w/v) of weak acid at 40-150 °C and 100-200 rpm for 30 minutes to 6 hours to prepare agarooligosaccharides; and reacting the agarooligosaccharides, an agarose degrading enzyme, and a neoagarobiose hydrolase at 20-40 °C and 0-200 rpm for 30 minutes to 7 days. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating skin pigmentary disorders contains 6-anhydro-L-galactose of chemical formula 1.
