Pressure of an intake gas is determined in an air distributor (12). Stopped or started states of an internal combustion engine (1) are detected based on the first signal and the pressure of the gas, where the engine is equipped with a crankshaft (10), and the toothed wheel is rotated in relation to the crankshaft.
