The line (1) has an upstream pipe (6) comprising a connector (32) for connecting a nitrogen oxide sensor (30). The upstream pipe passes from a side to another side of a silencer (8) through bores in walls (12, 14) of the silencer in a direction of gas passage. The upstream pipe continuously passes through an outer intermediate portion (24) of the upstream pipe. The intermediate portion extends towards an inlet of another silencer (26). The connector for the sensor is arranged on the intermediate portion of the upstream pipe. The former silencer is longitudinally placed under the car. An independent claim is also included for a car.
