PURPOSE: A method for checking the reliability of measuring instrument data is provided to continuously evaluate the measuring instrument data and a measuring instrument according to time by evaluating the measuring instrument data without direct access to the measuring instrument installed in facilities such as a dam. CONSTITUTION: Input data inputted by using measured data and output data outputted by the input data are determined to check the reliability of a measurement result or a measuring instrument. A power spectral density function of the input data is determined. Frequency elements including energy larger than an expected size are determined by an equation. A correlation function between the input data and the output data is determined. A weighted average of the correlation function is determined by calculating a weighed value of the frequency elements. The reliability of the measuring instrument or a measuring signal is determined according to the size of the weighted average of the function.
