PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication system for enabling a service provider to confirm the telephone number of a portable terminal owned by an authentication applicant, and for enabling the authentication applicant to quickly and smoothly receive authentication by using the portable terminal of the authentication applicant.SOLUTION: An authentication management device extracts a telephone number by analyzing data for authentication received from a transmission source terminal, selects one gateway device which provides a short message service(SMS) which can be connected to the portable terminal of an authentication applicant from a plurality of gateway devices on the basis of the telephone number, creates an electronic mail address for authentication, performs the protocol conversion of a created authentication message, transmits it to the portable terminal, and when receiving electronic mail transmitted to the electronic mail address for authentication from the portable terminal, makes it possible to authenticate the authentication applicant. |
