PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing high purity boron trichloride, in which both of phosgene and chlorine are simultaneously reduced.SOLUTION: The method for producing high purity boron trichloride includes: a process for supporting boric acid on activated carbon by adding the activated carbon to a boric acid aqueous solution of 20 to 32 mass%; a process for obtaining diboron trioxide-supporting activated carbon substantially free from metaboric acid by bringing the resulting boric acid-supporting activated carbon into contact with an inert gas while heating the boric acid-supporting activated carbon; a process for obtaining boron trichloride by reacting the diboron trioxide-supporting activated carbon with chlorine gas; and a process for reacting the boron trichloride with a carbon boride compound. |
