This mounting head holding device for a component mounting machine that detachably holds a mounting head (12) on a head holding part (11) of the component mounting machine, wherein: an engagement pin (17) of the mounting head (12) is disposed on a coupling part (15) that couples with the head holding part (11); an engaging member (13) is disposed on the head holding part (11), said engaging member (13) moving between an engaged position where the engaging member (13) engages with the engagement pin (17) so as to hold the mounting head (12), and a disengaged position where the engaging member (13) is disengaged from the engagement pin (17); and an air cylinder (18) is disposed on the head holding part (11), said air cylinder (18) serving as a drive source for moving the engaging member (13) between the engaged position and the disengaged position. When the mounting head (12) is attached to or detached from the head holding part (11), the head holding part (11) is rotated to a position where the engaging member (13) slips through the side of the engagement pin (17). |
