The method involves automatically reducing a photometric size of a rear outer bulb (1) of a motor car by a driving condition of the motor car during a lighting function operating mode (BL,SL). Environment lightness and a view condition of the rear outer bulb are changed. The position relative to the motor car is determined by using an image unit, a removal measuring instrument, a navigation unit and a communication unit. An independent claim is included for the motor car.
