PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to reduce electric power consumption.SOLUTION: A card reading device includes: a card placement base; a data reading part; a charge/discharge control circuit for executing charge and discharge for a charge/discharge element; and a power source changeover part which selects whether or not the power supplied from an external device or the power supplied from the charge/discharge control circuit is supplied to the data reading part after the power supplied from the charge/discharge control circuit is supplied to the data reading part accompanying placement of a card onto the card placement base by an operator. The reading and recording of data is performed by the power supplied from the charge/discharge control circuit. Thus, electric power consumption can be reduced. |
