The present invention relates to flame resistant vinyl aromatic polymer based compositions comprising, 1 to 30 parts by weight of a flame retardant, 0.5 to 15 parts by weight of antimony pentoxide as sole flame retardant aid, 0.1 to 2 parts by weight of an anti dripping agent, 0 to 5 parts by weight of additives, per 100 parts by weight of the vinyl aromatic polymer.
