PURPOSE: A temperature measuring apparatus using a resistance temperature detector and a temperature measuring method are provided to adaptively change the circuit configuration by determining the wiring system when measuring the temperature by using the resistance temperature detector, thereby enabling to vary a current supplying path. CONSTITUTION: A temperature measuring apparatus (100) using a resistance temperature detector is comprised of the connection terminals (101,102,103,104), a current supplying unit (150), a detection circuit (110), a plurality of switch (160,170) and a potential difference measuring unit (130). The connection terminals are connected to the resistance temperature detector. The current supplying unit is connected to at least one of the connection terminals and supplies the current to the resistance temperature detector. The detection circuit detects the connection status with the resistance temperature detector by being connected to one of the connection terminals. The plurality of switch is switched to change the current flow between the temperature measuring apparatus and the resistance temperature detector according to the detected connection status. The potential difference measuring unit measures the potential which is generated in both ends of the resistance temperature detector element which is included in the resistance temperature detector by the current flow.
