PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiwire electric discharge machining apparatus and a multiwire electric discharge machining method, which can stably performing slicing machining for cutting a columnar workpiece into a plurality of plate-like members at a time by multiwire electric discharge machining using one wire electrode and can improve machining speed.SOLUTION: A first machining pulse having a high-voltage and a short pulse width and a second machining pulse having a low voltage and a long pulse width are applied to electrode intervals in this order without any gap. A voltage value of the first machining pulse is such a high-voltage sufficient for inducing electric discharge at the electrode intervals, an electric discharge state may be established at all the cut wire parts during the application of the first machining pulse. Accordingly, machining speed is improved. A pulse width of the second machining pulse applied before the electric discharge is interrupted is such a long pulse width that machining energy prescribed at the electrode intervals may be supplied, and stable matching is thereby achieved. |
