PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device employing a one-drop fill method for filling liquid crystal which prevents phenomena of too much or too little liquid crystal, thereby preventing substrate deformation and air bubbles and improving reliability of a seal portion.SOLUTION: In a display region, a gap between a TFT substrate 100 and a counter substrate 200 is defined by a columnar spacer 205. Also in a seal portion, a gap between the TFT substrate 100 and the counter substrate 200 is defined by the columnar spacer 205. In the display region, one layer of a color filter is formed below the columnar spacer. In the seal portion, two layers of island-shaped color filters are formed (201G, 201B). With this configuration, the gaps between the TFT substrate 100 and the counter substrate 200 in the display region and the seal portion can be kept equal. In addition, even when the process for forming the columnar spacer 205 varies, it is possible to eliminate a change in difference between the gaps between the TFT substrate and the counter substrate in the display region and the seal portion. |
