The method involves configuring blank (100) having an inner surface (102) and an opposite outer surface (104). The blank is provided with a circular profile having slip mold (106). The blank is tensioned with respect to the slip mold so that the inner surface becomes elliptical in form. The blank is removed by releasing the pressure so that running surface of the bearing ring becomes elliptical in form.
