The spine board (1) has a longitudinal recess (7) which is provided in the surface of the central area of the main portion (5) of the spine board. A granulate-filled vacuum mattress is provided in the recess for stabilizing the spinal column during use, and a foam material is inserted in the vacuum mattress. The foam material is open-pored, so that the width of the vacuum mattress in the longitudinal direction central region is lower than in the opposite end portions.
