PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a development device and an image forming apparatus capable of preventing a large amount of electric current from flowing in a switching element, varying a duty ratio with no problem, and accurately preventing a leak, or unevenness of a toner image.SOLUTION: The development device includes: a developing roller which carries toner and faces a photosensitive drum; a magnetic roller which is arranged so as to face the developing roller and performs supply of the toner to the developing roller and removal of the toner from the developing roller, by a magnetic brush; a transformer for generating AC voltage to apply to the developing roller; a switching part for performing electrification and blockage of the transformer; a capacitor one end of which is connected to the transformer and the other end of which is connected to the switching part; and an output control part for, when varying a duty ratio at the switching from a first duty ratio to a second duty ratio, varying the duty ratio multiple times gradually from the first duty ratio to the second duty ratio. |
