PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a negative electrode plate material for a magnesium ion secondary battery, capable of being charged/discharged without being limited by the type of electrolyte, and improving cycle characteristics and charge/discharge efficiency; a negative electrode plate including the negative electrode plate material; and a magnesium ion secondary battery.SOLUTION: A negative electrode plate material for a magnesium ion secondary battery includes magnesium metal and an allotrope of carbon, and the magnesium metal and the allotrope of carbon are partially in contact with each other.
