A chainsaw having improved cutting workability is provided. A chainsaw (10) is used to cut an object to be worked by a saw chain (22). A chainsaw main body (12) is provided with an electric motor (11) and a sprocket (19), and a guide bar (21) around which the saw chain (22) is wound is provided on the chainsaw main body (12). The guide bar (21) is attached to the chainsaw main body (12) by a screw member (36) serving as an attaching member. A load sensor (41) detects whether or not the guide bar (21) is attached to the chainsaw main body (12). Rotation of the saw chain (22) is prohibited based upon a signal from the load sensor (41) when the guide bar (21) is not attached to the chainsaw main body (12).
