The battery cell has housing (1) having overvoltage protection device with contact pin (4) which is conductively connected to first electrode of battery cell. A deformable membrane (2) is electrically connected to second electrode of battery cell and deforms so that contact points (5) formed on membrane electrically contact the contact pin by overpressure in the housing interior, for short-circuiting the battery cell. A fuse (3) trips in a short circuit of the battery cell for interrupting the circuit in the cell.
