An image processing apparatus includes a fundus image acquisition unit configured to acquire a fundus image of an eye, a tomographic image acquisition unit configured to acquire a polarization-sensitive tomographic image of the eye, and a display control unit configured to cause a display unit to display, superimposed on a position in the fundus image which corresponds to a discontinuous portion in a predetermined layer of the eye shown in the polarization-sensitive tomographic image, a display form indicating the discontinuous portion.
