The invention relates to a to separate a dissolved catalyst system from a mixture obtained by an alkoxycarbonylation reaction, the process comprising subjecting said mixture to membrane filtration using a membrane which is impermeable to molecules having a molecular weight of 1 kDa or more to yield a retentate and a permeate, wherein the concentration of the dissolved catalyst system in the retentate is higher than in the permeate. Said process may advantageously reduce inactivation of the catalyst system.
