PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical instrument that is insertable into mammalian skin without using an introducer such as a needle.SOLUTION: The medical instrument includes a flexible analyte sensor and an insertion device for inserting the analyte sensor into the skin. The insertion device has: an introducer structure that provides axial support to an analyte sensor, is located outside a skin during its use, and has an outlet port; and an injection activation device that has a mechanism for applying a high speed drive power to the analyte sensor, where controlled impact and drive force are applied to the analyte sensor through at least part of the guide structure, that serves independent from the introducer structure and penetrates at least part of the outlet port so as to inset the analyte sensor into the skin. The insertion device is configured to cause the insertion of the analyte sensor into the skin without a rigid and/or sharp introducer device. |
