PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a moving image to be focused by tracing a desired object from moving image output data after imaging.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus obtains a piece of moving image output data which is taken by an imaging apparatus having a microlens array between an imaging optical system and an imaging element. The image processing apparatus detects a position of an object as a focusing target in an imaging range from the obtained moving image output data. A focal length focusing the object as the focusing target is determined, and a moving image focused at the focal length is generated from the moving image output data. The image processing apparatus generates a set of images corresponding to light beams each passing through an area different from each other in an exit pupil of the imaging optical system from the moving image output data, to determine a focusing focal length based on a defocus amount at the position of the object as the focusing target calculated from the set of images.
