PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that an improved vaccine for associated disorders such as herpes zoster and postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is required.SOLUTION: There is provided use of an immunogenic composition, comprising VZV gE or immunogenic fragment thereof, and a TH-1 adjuvant in the production of a medicament for the prevention or amelioration of herpes zoster and/or postherpetic neuralgia. There are also provided compositions comprising truncated type VZV gE and an adjuvant containing QS21, cholesterol and 3D MPL.
