PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire grid polarizer capable of acquiring peculiar properties of not diffusing transmitted light but diffusing reflected light, and to provide a polarizing beam splitter, and a projection device using the polarizing beam splitter.SOLUTION: The wire grid polarizer has a diffuse reflection property and a regular transmission property. The polarizing beam splitter (14) includes a polarization split surface (141) for transmitting a polarization component in a predetermined direction and reflecting a polarization component in the direction substantially orthogonal to the predetermined direction, and the polarization split surface (141) comprises the wire grid polarizer including a curved surface so as to condense the light reflected on the polarization split surface (141).
