<p>The invention relates to a method for operating a suction gripper (1; 21), comprising a suction body (2), which has a circumferential sealing lip (3) on a side facing a workpiece, wherein a vertical extent (TE) of the sealing lip (3) decreases during use of the suction gripper (1; 21) as a result of wear, and wherein the reaching of a critical degree of wear (Vkrit) of the sealing lip (3) is monitored by means of electrical measurements. The method is characterised in that a parameter continuously dependent on the vertical extent (TE) of the sealing lip (3) is determined by means of the electrical measurements, and from the parameter the actual degree of wear (V) of the sealing lip (3) is determined. The invention enables costly delays in assembly and manufacturing processes and machine downtimes in unmanned shifts to be reduced.</p> |
