A device to collect debris and liquids has a top ledge for engaging a work surface. The device has a bevelled outside edge for sealing the top ledge against the top of the work surface, and a trough connected to the top ledge by a drop edge for holding debris and liquids. There is a retaining means extending downward from the top ledge, and a locking strip having a grip surface for engaging the retaining means and lower ledge for engaging a bottom of the work surface, wherein the grip surface releasably connects with the retaining means to clamp the work surface. A method for assembling the device has the steps of i) mounting the device on a work surface by pushing the grip surface against the retention means, and ii) removing the device from the counter by distorting the retention means to release the grip surface.
