The method involves supplying printing units (21-26), painting module (27) and a dryer device (28) with energy streams for ensuring its functions during operation for printing or processing of printing substrates. Parts of the supplied and unused or unusable converted residual energy stream are extracted from the printing units, painting module and the dryer device. The residual energy stream are supplied to or extracted from a heat transport system (40), power boards (41-43), a heat exchanger (44) and wiring systems (45a, 45b, 46a, 46b).
