<p>A swarf removal fitment 1 is provided for placement around at least part of a drill nosepiece (34, figure 4) to facilitate the removal of the debris generated by a drill bit, the fitment comprising a fitment main body 2 with an outlet 5 for the egress of the swarf, and at least one sealing element 3 for forming a seal against the nosepiece capable of fitment to a plurality of nosepieces of differing sizes and/or shapes. The main body may be of a transparent material, and may be of more than one part 2a and 2b connected by a hinge 10 to allow the apparatus to be removed for placement of the drill on a work surface. There may be more than one seal at each end of the device capable of sealing against a drill head, and the seals may be of foam or other elastically deformable material. The seal may be biased by an inflatable element or a biasing element may provide a sealing surface. The swarf may be sucked from the device via a low pressure generator, possibly a vacuum, via the outlet 5.</p> |
