A carrier 1 for mounting a device 2 to a rope 3 comprises an elongate body having a hollow central section with an opening through which the device is inserted for retention in the hollow between the sides and bottom of the body. Each end of the body is faired and incorporates holes through which the rope passes so that the body can rotate about an axis coincident with the rope when fixed to the body. The combination of faired ends and ability to rotate allows the carrier to rotate automatically when the rope passes over pulleys, etc. (Fig.10), to avoid damage. The carrier is preferably formed from a flexible material. The device is preferably a noise emitter, e.g. a dolphin pinger for use with fishing nets to deter dolphins and other cetaceans, the carrier being attachable to a foot rope of such a net. |
