752,272. Anchor nuts; stud and socket fastenings. WALDES IiOH-I-NOOR, Inc. May 20, 1954 [June 5, 1953], No. 14830/54. Classes 44 and 89 (1). A nut-assembly for a quick-acting bolt and nut fastener, e.g. a panel-fastener for aircraft, comprises a shell having a tapered part 18, Fig. 1, and a cylindrical part 20, opposed nutsegments 31, 32, secured against turning relatively to the shell by having grooves 34, 34a engaging ribs 19, 19a, and having tapered peripheries corresponding to part 18. The segments are urged apart by spring members 35, 35a attached thereto, to normally reside at the larger diameter end of part 18. Levers 42, pivoted to ears 46 bent from a resilient plate 47, have arms 44 abutting the larger ends of the segments and arms 43 protruding into the bore which receives a bolt 12, Fig. 4, whereby the bolt pivots the levers to urge the segments towards the smaller diameter end of part 18 and into threaded engagement with the bolt. Slight rotation of the bolt tightens the fastener. Plate 47 is supported by the rim 21 of part 20 and its resilience permits a long bolt to deflect the segments and levers and ratchet past the threads of the segments during insertion. Members 35, 35a, each consist of two leaf springs 38 interconnected by a part 36 received in a recess 40 in each segment,. the opposing levers pressing against each other. The smaller end of part 18 is fixed to a reinforcing ring 29 having a rectangular flange 28 loosely engaged by a cage 23 riveted to the frame 11 surrounding the panel opening.
