The present invention provides a novel fuel dispensing nozzle 2, which prevents the incidence of fuel spillage when the delivery of fuel is terminated. The nozzle 2 is provided with a fuel delivery tube 4 having a fuel recovery cavity 6 extending along its length. The fuel delivery tube 4 and the cavity 22 are interconnected by an aperture 20, and a restrictor ring 22 may be located in a push fit relationship within said tube 4 with a downstream end 24 thereof adjacent an upstream edge 26 of the aperture 20. The cavity 6 is closed at either end (16, 18, Fig.2). When the nozzle 2 is in use, fuel being delivered through the fuel delivery tube 4 is accelerated as it passes through the restrictor ring 22 to cause a drop in pressure within the fuel recovery cavity 6. Thus, when the delivery of fuel is automatically terminated by fuel backing up and reaching a pressure sensing aperture 32, any spillage is prevented because any residual fuel is drawn into the fuel recovery cavity 6.
