PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for setting up an interface in a portable terminal are provided to set up an interface in a portable terminal without the inconvenience of generating different dedicated software. CONSTITUTION: If a portable terminal is turned on, a control unit (101) confirms whether a subscriber identity module (SIM) is installed in the portable terminal. In case the SIM card is installed, the control unit detects a country code and a mobile operator code included in the SIM card. The control unit executes an interface setup application. The control unit searches for customized producing data corresponding to the detected country code and the mobile operator code of all customized producing data. The control unit installs an interface of the portable terminal through the searched customized producing data.
