An acetabul cup prosthesis having a rim and comprising a metal band applied around the outer circumference of the acetabular cup prosthesis and adjacent to said rim, said cup prosthesis additionally comprising one or more flanges extending from the metal band and being configured such that in use the or each flange connects the prosthesis to an impaction cup.
