PURPOSE: A device for detecting an abnormality of a tool is provided to improve accuracy of a section determination and a reduction of working hours by determining automatically whether a driving of the tool is in an adjustment speed section or not through an order speed and a monitoring speed. CONSTITUTION: A device (100) for detecting an abnormality of a tool comprises a detection region setting unit (120), and a function drive controlling unit (130). The detection region setting unit determines whether a driving of the tool is in an adjustment speed section by comparing a monitoring speed which is a driving rate of a monitored tool and an order speed which is a velocity order applied to the tool. The function drive controlling unit is connected electrically with the detection region setting unit, and terminates a discrimination whether an abnormality of a load is generated or not when a driving of the tool in adjustment speed section is discriminated in the detection region setting unit.
