PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volume reduction method and a device for concrete contaminated with radiation which are efficient and safe for a human body.SOLUTION: Concrete 7 contaminated with radiation is installed in the water stored in a steel tank 4, high voltage pulse is applied to it by a positive polarity side high-voltage electrode 2 to crush it, and the volume of the concrete 7 is reduced. Consequently, volume reduction of the concrete 7 is efficiently achieved. Instead of installing the concrete 7 contaminated with radiation in the water, it may be installed in insulation oil and high-voltage pulse is applied to crush it.
